HBIS LCA+Life Well-Being Index Collaborative Evaluation System Innovating to Drive Marketing and Application of Metal Decorative Products enters the Excellence in Life Cycle Assessment Award shortlist and Cross-utilisation of Waste Water and Waste Heat Forming a New Path for the Deep Integration of EAF Process and Urban Development Project enters the Excellence in Sustainability Award Shortlist.

HBIS actively implements the LCA methodology, continuously strengthens innovation and cooperation in the industrial chain and supply chain, and deeply explores and practices systematic carbon reduction solutions. LCA+Life Well-Being Index Collaborative Evaluation System Innovating to Drive Marketing and Application of Metal Decorative Products is a project research that innovatively conducts research on the" LCA+ "(environmental assessment + Quality of Life Index) evaluation methodology, tool development and case application based on the traditional life cycle assessment (LCA). Taking the bathroom cabinet as a typical case, through a comprehensive comparative analysis of "steel cabinet and particle board cabinet", the environmental performance and value of improving the quality of life of the two schemes under different service life periods were studied. The results show that the steel cabinet has significant advantages in reducing environmental load and improving the quality of life, and the longer the service life, the more obvious its advantages become. Based on this case, the project team has developed a set of evaluation tool and solution that can quantify environmental performance and visually present the value of improving the quality of life, achieving a breakthrough leap in product advantages from "quantitative presentation of environmental data" to "concrete perception of life value".

HBIS continuously promotes green and low-carbon technological innovation, explores the path of green and low-carbon transformation, and provides more innovative solutions for the green development of the industry. Cross-utilisation of Waste Water and Waste Heat Forming a New Path for the Deep Integration of EAF Process and Urban Development is the first project in the industry to use municipal sewage as the water source. The salt separation crystallization technology was adopted to achieve zero discharge of concentrated brine resources. The low-temperature circulating cooling water waste heat urban heating project was implemented, realizing the coordinated recovery of water and heat, and becoming a model of the deep integration of steel and urban environment. This practice of organically integrating the waste water and waste heat generated during the steel production process with urban demands has created a model case of harmonious coexistence between steel enterprises and the urban environment. The successful implementation of this project has provided replicable and scalable green transformation experience for the steel industry. It has significant demonstration significance for accelerating the transformation of the entire industry towards low-carbon and environmentally friendly short-process technologies, and has also opened up brand-new ideas for achieving the coordinated development of industry and cities.

The Steelie Awards, an important award established by the World Steel Association, aims to recognize member companies that have made outstanding contributions and exerted wide influence in the global steel industry over the past year. The Sustainable Development Excellence Award recognizes outstanding cases that have achieved positive impacts through specific sustainable development initiatives or have generated benefits in the three areas of sustainable development(economic, environmental and social performance).
